Our Story

From a Garage Dream of

5 (MW) to 5 (GW)

Ecoren Energy’s journey started humbly, quite literally, in a garage project tucked away in Jubilee Hills. It was a rented space of Prasad Yerneni, where we spent countless hours figuring out how to crack renewable energy space. We had big dreams and bolder vision, but unsure where to start. We set our sights high—on the best PLF sites in the country—but quickly realized that ambition alone wouldn’t get us there. So, we leaned on OEMs and developers, and we found ourselves paying out advances, hoping to bring our vision to life. But the gap between dream and reality was bigger than we could have imagined.

Raising capital was everyone’s game, and we believed we could do the same. Interest was high, but the distance from dream to reality—the gap between the cup and the sip—felt enormous. Our first big bet was a 5MW captive project for Coca-Cola. Presentations, discussions, and strategizing followed, but each time, we came up empty-handed. It was 2010, and the market wasn’t ready for C&I PPAs—our timing was too early. Ground zero became our reality to retrace our steps to find promising sites and viable PPAs.

We went back to the basics, realizing that even nature could guide us—tree shapes pointed to potential wind zones, a silent language of opportunity. Seeking new answers, we tapped into global meteorologists and learned the art of wind prospecting, discovering our “first love”: chasing and teasing out wind speeds. Failing fast became our strength, and from there, we adopted an alternate approach, grounded in first principles thinking. Instead of falling back on financial engineering, we focused on real, measurable value in wind speeds, a grit-driven approach that set us apart.

Amidst these learning curves, a friend and global investor noticed our relentless passion for the science of wind. He showed us how to build a scalable, profitable business and confirmed what we had sensed all along—the real value was in superior wind resource, development and de-risking projects. This was the pivot that transformed us. We weren’t just financiers or engineers; we were becoming one of India’s first professional renewable developers. Transitioning from the consulting world, we dug into the grit of development, learning to get our hands dirty—acquiring land, clearing right-of-way issues, building transmission lines, doing the work from the ground up. It was hands-on, raw, and exhilarating work—and we loved every minute of it.

From those early days of hunting for 5MW project, we grew into a 5GW powerhouse, chasing wind speeds, learning the intricacies of project development, and scaling heights we’d only dreamed of. Ecoren Energy’s story is one of resilience, grit, and the relentless pursuit of a vision. We’re not just in the business of renewable energy; we’re writing our own history, one project at a time, pushing boundaries, and proving that with enough passion and tenacity, even the humblest beginnings can lead to extraordinary impact.

Our Journey

2010-14

From Mast to Megawatt: A Clean Energy Odyssey

2010, the year Notable journey of Ecoren Energy began as a project developer, Just like an
early bird targeting the potential resources to Benchmark superior wind resources which
seems to be now our permanent nest to reside. Site surveys, ESR studies, Mast Siting. In
2014, We then took charge of our first baby bird 25MW Project Kicking off construction and
we pulled it off with ease setting the tone for our future EPC excellence. A step forward with
poise, we joined hands to execute a 20 MW Solar project alongside a 25 MW Project in
Telangana and wrapped effortlessly as a bird takes flight just by July 2015, it was the
springboard that launched our smooth leap into the world of EPC. Between 2013 and 2015,
we made significant strides in expanding our renewable energy footprint.

2015-19

Mapping Winds, Powering Sun: A 1GW Renewable Leap

We hovered about 1GW of wind potential in Maharashtra by doing our sort of pioneered
groundwork in Mast installation, deep resource assessment, STU & MEDA Connectivity
registrations, and auctions. We had our sights set on Odisha for long-term expansion where
we proactively set up masts. In Madhya Pradesh, we won competitive tenders and achieved
connectivity milestones demonstrating our strategic edge, even as we navigated hardcore
challenges with the grace of wings on wind.

We had dipped our beaks into wind and solar projects Summing up to 180 MW in Andhra
Pradesh and Karnataka as an IPP, marking our Defining presence and driving India’s clean
energy journey.

2020-23

Weathering the Winds of Change in Clean Energy

The switch in Government policies, competitive bidding, Supply Chain Disruptions and
pandemic hit has its implications on our journey in this span, That said, we’ve weathered the
rain, fluffed our wings, and shaped ourselves in resilient, robust and adaptable Ecoreins. This
has strengthened our ability to effectively manage multiple projects moving forward.

2024-25

Giant Strides: Building a 5GW Renewable Legacy

We have transformed from 5MW to 5GW, we grew from moderate(MW) to giant(GW)
powerhouse as EPC and IPP carving our remarkable legacy in clean energy history, we strive
to push boundaries with our sense of making significant contributions to Mission 30:30. While
the gap between our dreams and the actual outcome was more extensive than we had
imagined, we managed to overcome it. Now, we have solidified our presence in Andhra
Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka, with over 1.5GW commissioned and
contracts secured for 5GW of upcoming projects driving India’s green energy future.
